1113 & 1119 North Sweetzer Avenue - Caringly restored 1951 Old Hollywood building
About Us
The year was 1951 and Fred Astaire was hosting the Oscars as our building was under construction.  Marilyn Monroe lived just one street over on Harper Boulevard and Jean Harlow just up the street on Sweetzer and Fountain.  The next year, Humphrey Bogart and Vivien Leigh won the Academy Award for Best Actor & Actress as the first residents of 1113 & 1119 North Sweetzer Avenue watched from their living rooms.

Since changing management in early 2009, our property manager has been working consistently on improving the building both functionally and aesthetically, and enhancing its curb appeal.

Under the previous manager, the building had been poorly maintainted and hadn't been painted in over 20 years.  The foliage was overgrown and the paint was bleached out and peeling away from the rotten wood siding.  Where there is green grass now, the center driveway was just dry compacted dirt and weeds.

Starting small by simply cleaning up the landscaping and adding new lighting fixtures to the exterior of the building, our property manager then moved on to adding new sleek and modern apartment numbers to each suite, removing old satellite dishes and wires from the roof, removing bars on the windows and rusted security doors, removing the banana trees at the front of the building, trimming the eugenia trees that run along the sides of the buildings, adding faux-grass down the center driveway, and finally adding new landscaping to all of the planters that line the center courtyard - along with a beautiful fountain.

In addition to the exterior work, the building and individual units have also been re-plumbed with new copper piping and each suite has been caringly remodeled upon vacancy.

Most enthusiastically, in Fall 2010, the building was repainted, the windows repaired and re-glazed, and the rain gutters were all replaced.

In Summer 2013, we renovated the second laundry room.  The room was originally set up as another laundry room, but hadn't been in use for more than 20-30 years as best we can tell.  The previous manager had used the room as storage and disconnected all of the pipes, so we cleaned it out, tiled the floor, re-plumbed the room, and designed it from the ground up.  We even included individual storage cubbies for Suites 1 through 8, to be able to house their laundry supplies in the room.

It has been a lot of hard work and it is rewarding to hear the neighbors that live on Sweetzer Avenue walk by and compliment how great the building looks and how it still continues to improve.

From the newest resident to the longest, it is even more rewarding to know that 1113 & 1119 North Sweetzer has now been able to create a true sense of community with the residents that call our building home.

About our Property Manager
1113 & 1119 North Sweetzer Avenue is managed by a dedicated professional who has overseen the restoration of the building.  With over eight years of property management experience, she has successfully managed buildings in Orange County for The Irvine Company including a 436-unit gated golf course community that underwent a complete remodel to the leasing office, pools, fitness center, and each individual unit.  Managing this massive remodel project, the team was recognized as handling the most successful building renovation by retaining over 75% of its existing residents.

In addition to a property management background, our property manager has worked in marketing for a new home builder - so real estate and renovation come very naturally. She has also worked for Sir Richard Branson's Virgin Group overseeing marketing and events in the travel industry - from private jets to international long-haul travel.

In 2009, she started The Suite Life as a boutique property management and consulting company and in November 2013, expanded to include an online resource for apartment living in LA.

Moving to LA seven years ago, like most apartment hunters, she took two months in her apartment search to make a decision on which neighborhood of the vast LA landscape she wanted to make her home before settling on the bustling heart of West Hollywood.  She has a solid foundation in the principles of property management that allows her to exhibit her creativity and passion for the aesthetic while seamlessly ensuring the satisfaction of our valued residents.
